They are okay. I’ve known a couple of guys who’ve had them as something not too expensive and reliable.

Not my sort of thing, certainly not the U.S. ones with those awful round reflectors on the corners.

Assumptions were:

scary German quality issues....... nope

maintenance too expensive........ nope

Bangle-itus...... could be worse/aged well

I thought a lot of it was the Bangle-itus. The other stuff is standard German car behaviour.

But I always really liked the styling! It’s cohesive and unique, and it doesn’t do anything outwardly ugly so as to offend so many people.

It looks like a child has wondered outside with a few stickers and went, “ye’, I’ll put these here so daddy can see them”.

At least when the British police puts them on their cars, it blends in and works with it (ie yellow dot on each facing of the police car means it’s an armed vehicle, green dot on the fuel filler door means it’s a petrol car and a black dot on a filler door means it’s a diesel car).
